The Board of Library Trustees oversees the operations of the Allen County Public Library system which consists of the main Downtown branch and thirteen additional branches throughout Allen County. Appointments to the board are made as follows:
- Two appointments by the Allen County Board of Commissioners
- Two appointments by the County Council
- Two appointments by the Fort Wayne School Board
- One appointment by the other three school board presidents acting jointly
A term runs four years from January 1 to December 31, and an appointee can serve no more than four consecutive terms. Indiana Code 36-12-2. The Allen County Public Library Board is a Class 1 Board.
